Volunteer Opportunities

 

Everyone can help!

You can start small by sprucing up your front yard, or step out and help your neighbor mow, pick up litter in your neighborhood, plant flowers at your office or church, or get involved in one of the community efforts listed below.  Take pride in our hometown!

Arbor Day tree planting

April 26th, 9am – Noon ;  Twyckenham Boulevard Arbor Day Tree Planting. Meet at the corner of Twyckenham and Poland Hill Road. Parking off Poland Hill on Matterhorn drive. For more information contact Belinda Kiger at 807-1383.

Downtown Tree Mulching

Lafayette Tree Fund tending downtown tree wells (several volunteers needed).  For specific dates and times contact Larry Rose larry47905@comcast.net.

 

Project Move Out

May 2nd - May 4th ;  Boiler Volunteer Network collects clothing, furniture, and food that Purdue students no longer need when they leave campus.  It is sorted and displayed at the Armory for area low-income families. 496-2450 or bvn@purdue.edu.

 

Shamrock Dog Park tree planting

Monday, May 5th, 9:00 am                   Lafayette Mun. Golf Course-at first tee

Wednesday, May 7th, 9:00 am            Columbian Park - Park on Park Avenue, near Wallace Street and walk toward the center of the Park - meet at the triangle.

Thursday, May 8th, 9:00 am                 Court House-- corner of Columbian and 4th

Pedestrian Bridge over river (28 pots to plant)--meet on Depot side

Friday, May 9th, 9:00 am                      Battle Ground museum

 

Rain date for any of the above planting days will be Friday, May 9 at 1:00 pm.

Clean Sweep

Lafayette Nominate Your Neighbor

Nominations taken from May 12th through August 15th. Volunteers are needed to help with sign delivery and pick up. Contact the Community Development Department at 807-1090 for more information.

 

National Trails Day

June 7th – take a hike, enjoy spring and collect litter along the way

 

America In Bloom week

June 16-23th last litter sweeps, graffiti erasing and tidying efforts before judges come to evaluate!
